Kent LINk working with

Kent LINk newsletter

"Sharon Wilding and her associates at The Purple Edge have been working with the Kent Local involvement Network (LINk) for nearly a year. They were tasked with advising and assisting the LINk with developing and managing its marketing strategy. They have helped us develop a style and  approach to marketing that I believe is coherent and likely to achieve the LINk’s objectives of seeking to involve the population of Kent in their NHS and social care services.

"What is particularly attractive about The Purple Edge is that they combine through Sharon and her associates a wide range of skills, from marketing to journalism, graphic design and so on. Keep up the good work."
Graham Hills, Director, Kent & Medway Networks (Host organisation for Kent LINk)

Summary of activity

The Kent LINk is an independent network of local people and community groups working together to influence and improve Kent's health and social care services. They receive Government funding to ensure that consultation with local people is carried out. Their marketing challenges ranged from presenting themselves as a professional and inclusive organisation to the wider community in Kent, to communicating with key audiences on specific projects. Overall they wanted to drive greater engagement with a limited budget, and in the period May 2010 to March 2011 a 30% increase in registered participants was recorded.

Key projects involving The Purple Edge included:

  • Refreshing the brand and ensuring it was consistently applied
  • Updating literature to present the LINk in a more clear and compelling way - including an Easy Read version
  • Refreshing guidelines for regular communications to people signed up to the database
  • Managing the PR for the major investigation into cleanliness and hygiene in Kent's hospitals
  • Gathering public feedback and creating a response to the Government's White Paper on NHS changes
  • Launching a social network strategy using Facebook, Twitter and YouTube
The Purple Edge is a marketing company that really does make a difference. They organise great courses to help you learn the "Marketing Mix" and help you get the right strategy in place that will work for your company whether you are a new start up or a long established firm.
