Although Pilgrims Hospices have an in-house marketing team and dedicated fund-raisers, the workload increases substantially in the summer months when their major fundraising events take place. THE PURPLE EDGE was engaged to help drive additional registrations for the Moonlight Walks and Pyjama Walk in 2011.

Summary of activity

Pilgrims Hospices rely on their supporters to fund the care they offer to the terminally ill and the summer walks are vitally important to hitting their targets.

They have excellent links with the press and local businesses to help promote the events to the East Kent public using traditional methods, but engaging additional marketing expertise meant that, for the first time, they were able to explore email and social media as key ways to engage with supporters.

With the help of THE PURPLE EDGE they were able to:

  • Carry out email campaigns to drive registrations and encourage participation and fundraising
  • Substantially increase their following on Twitter
  • Launch a new Facebook page, with more than 500 fans joining over the period
  • Analyse the registration data from over 1,000 people who registered online to develop recommendations for improved campaign performance in future years
